The National Junior Honor Society is one of the highest honors a secondary student can receive. Shelby received a notice that out of her 7th grade, she was chosen along with 4 others to be nominated. Her grades qualified her to be nominated. But grades are only the first step. The award has 5 criteria that must be met: scholarship, leadership, service, character, and citizenship. Shelby had to fill out a form that explained how she meets all 5 criteria. Since she goes to church and participates in lots of service, she easily passed that off. Her form was then reviewed by a committee
and they determined that Shelby was indeed deserving to join the NJHS.
